Penalties for traffic violations - 2023, Ukraine

Penalties that have not been paid within 15 days can be doubled, i.e. You will have to pay double the fine.

If the driver appeals against the decision to impose a fine in court (the driver files an administrative claim to cancel the policeman’s decision), the decision comes into force only after the court considers the administrative claim and makes a decision on the case.

If a driver or a police officer files an appeal against a court decision, the decision to impose a fine enters into force after consideration of the appeal by the Administrative Court of Appeal.

A driver who has exceeded the speed limit on the road by more than 20 km/h, but by less than 50 km/h will be fined UAH 340.
If the excess is more than 50 km / h, then the fine will be 1700 UAH.
If an accident occurs due to speeding, then an additional fine will be in the amount of 1445 UAH.

The fine for the absence of a motor vehicle citizen and for the absence of a registration number is 425 UAH.

Seat belts - fines 2023

Fine for one unfastened seat belt - 510 UAH.


All road users in Ukraine must fasten their seat belts, exceptions:

     children up to 145 cm tall must be in a car seat while the car is in motion;
     a driver or passenger with a disability who has restrictions that prevent fastening;
     drivers and passengers of operational vehicles.

If a car gets into an accident, then the fine for not wearing seat belts can increase to 8500 UAH.
